On-Street Enforcement

Learn when metered parking is enforced, what rates apply in different areas, and what to do if a meter or paystation is not working.

Parking rules are required to be obeyed at all times and may be enforced by either the Allentown Parking Authority or the Allentown Police Department, unless restricted by city ordinance. The Allentown Parking Authority now enforces 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Parking meters are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the Core PPL Event Area along Hamilton Street from 4th to 12th Streets, and on the unit blocks north and south of Hamilton Street from Linden to Walnut Streets between 5th and 11th Streets.

  • Rate: $2.00 per hour
  • Payment options: coins, bills, credit/debit cards, or ParkMobile

All Other Metered Areas

Meters in all other locations are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

  • Rate: $1.00 per hour

Meter & Paystation Policy

If a parking meter or paystation is inoperable, report it to the APA and park at a functioning meter or use a paystation located within the same zone. Parking in a space with an inoperable meter or paystation is subject to violation.

Sunday & Event Enforcement

Metered parking is not enforced on Sundays unless there is a PPL Event. In the PPL Center Area, metered spaces are enforced beginning 2 hours prior to the event start time.
